Most people probably already know this, but if you don't I'm here to fill you in. When you are posting pictures of Facebook, each picture needs to be given a privacy setting. Now, if you don't care who sees what, then skip this post, but if you have children that you want to protect from what "could" happen, then read on.
Facebook launched a beta test that foreshadows new privacy controls coming to “Publisher” – the box at the top of your home and profile pages where you add content. The changes will let you easily specify who among your friends gets to see that specific photo, video or status update you’re sharing.
This is great for me because I have a mixture of people that are my "friends" on Facebook. I have old high school friends, mid-life crisis friends, online friends, business contacts and family. I really don't want certain people seeing certain pictures, like me right after giving birth to my third daughter, hugging all three girls...yes it's "sweet," but not everyone needs to see that personal moment in time.
I love Facebook because I can quickly share photos and videos of my girls to friends and family in California who are always whining for more, but others probably don't care as much about the kids as much as seeing me and knowing what I'm up too.
The test version is available to only “a small number of users” who previously set their status updates and profile privacy settings to be visible to “Everyone,” Facebook says in a blog post, but hopes to expand the group “soon.”
