As Digital Mommy's we are constantly "plugged in." Even if we aren't on our laptop or PC, we have our iPhone, Blackberry, Palm or whatever mobile device you carry EVERYWHERE with you. Is it an addiction? Could you, if fact, really unplug?
I ask myself this question because the other day I tweeted that I was going to unplug and take my girls out for a much needed day out with mom. Sure enough, while my girls were looking at toys, I found myself checking my email and tweeting. Geesh! Can't I get away from cyber space ever? Well, here are some helpful tips on how to unplug and not cheat you or your family out of much needed "me" time.
- "Forget" your phone in the car. It will still be there when you are done with whatever family or "me time" activity you are participating in.
- Treat yourself to a manicure. You don't want to mess up those freshly painted nails, do you?!
- If you are out by yourself and Dad is at home with the kids, leave them alone! Dad needs quality time with the kids too.
- Dad doesn't know where everything is in the house because you are the keeper of most things, so you are forewarned...he's probably going to ask where something is if you call. don't stress yourself out when he says," Where is the Goo Gone? So and so just wrote all over the couch." Arrgh!
- Out for a much needed,"Girls Night Out?" Swap phones with your girlfriend and put the phones safely in each others purses.
